XR INSTALLATION

Concept + Development: C.G. RYAN / Advisor: ALEX OLISZEWSKI / Venue: ARTECHOUSE (NYC) Studio: ACCAD (Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design) / Application: ISADORA (TroikaTronix) Sound + Media Design: C.G. RYAN

DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

SHADOW ME / SHADOW YOU is an interactive installation that visualizes emotional states projected inside a viewer’s silhouette. The project was created in Isadora and used motion capture to both create trigger zones within the viewing screen as well as to create a mirrored silhouette of the viewer.

ARTECHOUSE Gallerys approached The Ohio State University’s ACCAD (Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design) faculty for submissions for a national art technology student exhibition at their New York City location. Professor Alex Oliszewski recommended C.G. Ryan’s interactive project and it was accepted into the exhibit.

Project Specifications:

“When ARTECHOUSE contacted us about a ACCAD student showcase in their New York City location, I immediately thought of C.G.'s project visualizing emotional states. Shw was my student in my Devising Experimental Media Systems interdisciplinary class, and though her concept for Shadows was ambitious, she executed it beautifully" — ALEX OLISZEWSKI, professor, OSU-ACCAD
